Computerized anesthesia
A modern solution that is increasingly used in dental offices around the world is computer-assisted anesthesia.
Computerized anesthesia
After the patient is seated in the dental chair, a crucial step for the success of the treatment follows: local-regional anesthesia by infiltration. The fear of needles, the „unfriendly” appearance of the metal syringe, and the anticipation of pain lead the patient to a state of agitation and fear.
The anesthetic puncture itself, injection speed, pressure, and, last but not least, the anatomical region where we perform the anesthesia are elements that can make this procedure extremely painful for the patient.
In the case of the puncture itself, using worn, blunt-tipped needles, or aggressive entry into the tissue will generate a painful reaction. Depending on the type of anesthesia we need to administer (plexal, peripheral nerve block, or intraligamentary), the puncture site can be the mobile mucosa, fixed, loose, easily extensible, adherent to the periosteum, or even the completely inextensible intraligamentary space.
Injecting with high pressure into areas where tissue is „stiff” is extremely painful. Injection speed is very important: slow injection, at the (constant) rate recommended in literature, is almost impossible to achieve with a classic anesthetic syringe. We will never be able to inject at a perfectly constant speed.
Intraligamentary anesthesia is difficult for the practitioner to administer and difficult for the patient to tolerate.
A modern solution that is increasingly used in dental offices around the world is computer-assisted anesthesia. This is represented by a device that delivers the anesthetic solution at ideal speed and pressure parameters according to the type of anesthesia we are performing.
There is a wide range of such products from various manufacturers (with or without a pedal, with or without consumables, more difficult or easier to use, etc.). We offer you the Dentapen system.
Dentapen is a Computer-assisted anesthesia device extremely easy to use, it is compact, has no pedal, wires, is safe and precise, and most importantly – it has no additional consumables.
The Dentapen uses regular needles and anesthetic carpules. Basically, the only thing that needs to be replaced on it is the batteries (once every few months).
Dentapen has 3 injection speeds, a special function for intraligamentary anesthesia, and a suction function that can be performed at any time during anesthesia. It has a much friendlier appearance, and anesthesias performed with it are very „gentle,” comfortable for the patient, and, last but not least, much easier for the dentist to perform. Basically, all you have to do is set your anatomical landmarks, press a button, and Dentapen injects at the ideal speed and pressure.
Persistent pain at the puncture site, persistent numbness, sudden tissue expansion and injury, all are eliminated with this device. Dentapen is extremely well-received by patients, especially children and anxious individuals.
